Alert: Osama bin Laden’s Death Facebook Scam

Scammers have already begun to take advantage of Osama bin Laden’s death, posting a link on Facebook that claims to contain leaked footage pertaining to his death.

There are multiple links, each of which contain sensational titles, such as: “Osama bin Laden Killed (leaked video)” and “BBC News – Osama Bin Laden Killed (LIVE VIDEO).”

The links also include gruesome photos of his Face.

Clicking on the link will prompt you to enter a code or captcha, which will then post it on your Facebook wall, disseminating it to all of your friends in your newsfeed. In this way, the scam goes viral. Entering the captcha, however, will not reveal undisclosed video footage. Instead, you will be prompted to fill out a survey. The scammers earn a commission for each person that fills out the survey.

The recent Osama killing by US forces in Abbottabad has opened a new can of worms. The US media is taking full advantage of it, as is their president. After all he has the most to gain with the upcoming presidential elections.
