Broad Peak Summits Yield Two Lost Climbers

A new report from Explorersweb has it that 12 people made the summit of Broad Peak (AKA K3) on the border of China and Pakistan, but that two people have been lost to the mountain.

On July 31st, a total of 13 climbers reached the top of Broad Peak. Among them was Zuzana Hofmannova, who became the first Czech woman to make the summit of Broad Peak. Hofmannova got lost on the way down, however, and has now been reported dead by the Czhech media.

According to ExWeb, the other casualty on Broad Peak was Muhammad Baqir, from the Sadpara village in Skardu, Tibet. He died on the mountain as well.

Broad Peak is the 12th highest mountain in the world.
