While most surfers go looking for warm, tropical weather, photographer and surfer Chris Burkard sought snow-covered beaches in Iceland on a surf trip this Spring.
Along with Philip Goold, Alek Parker, and Brett Barley, Burkard got what he was looking for: ice-cold water, amazing surf, and incredible photos.
He detailed his expedition, what it was like to shoot in such freezing waters (his wetsuit was so brittle it almost cracked), and some of the most rewarding moments of his trip in a question and answer session given on National Geographic’s blog, Beyond the Edge.
