Dave Cornthwaite to Swim 1,000 Miles Down the Missouri River

Tomorrow (August 10) Dave Cornthwaite, an epic distance adventurer, is embarking on a trip to swim 1,000 miles down the Missouri River.

Or was it the Misery River?

The 1,000 mile journey will take Dave Cornthwaite the distance between Chamberlain, South Dakota and St. Louis, Missouri. He will tow his gear behind him in a carbon fiber raft floating atop the Missouri’s waters.

Here is what it says about the expedition on his website, where you can also learn about his past adventures, his life, get his books, or learn about his sponsorships.

Dave and his team, all who will be paddling the full 1000 miles by Stand Up Paddleboard and Canoe, aim to raise £100,000 for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! at the same time as creating a social media campaign to inspire others to take on their own adventure.

50 days. 20 miles a day. 1 man swimming 1000 miles, 6 people paddling 1000 miles. We’d like you to join us.

You can follow the expedition via Dave’s Twitter here.
