Jason Haas Makes 2 Free Ascents on The Diamond of Longs Peak

Colorado native Jason Haas made two free ascents on The Diamond wall of Longs Peak, one of the famous big walls.

According to a report in Climbing, Haas became the first person to make a free ascent up the route called Waterhole #3. He also became the second person to make a free ascent up Dunn-Westbay, a 5.13.

Waterhole #3 is an 800-foot, six-pitch route at 5.11+ R/X. Climbing this wall, Haas had to deal with being wet the whole time: you start behind a waterfall, getting soaked. Near the top, on the fourth pitch, it even began raining on him

Located near Longmont, Colorado, The Diamond was first ascended by Dave Rearick and Bob Camps in 1960.
