KTL Host Dylan Winter Tells His Story for Nights of Adventure

Dylan Winter, the man who set up the sailing website Keep Turning Left (KTL), gave a hilarious yet inspiring talk at Nights of Adventure last month. The talk was just made available for everyone to view online today.

Winter went on a few great adventures in his youth (riding the entire length of the Oregon Trail on horseback) and thought he had hung up his hat, when his son reinfected him with the adventuring bug by going on his own trekking trip down the Ganges.

According to the talk, Winter made a video at this time about big logging trucks in Canada and it started racking up hits so Google began to pay him per hit. Later, the trucking companies began paying him for his videos as a sponsorhip.

Using this money, he funded a sailing voyage around Britain’s 20,000 mile long coast line in a small boat. This voyage gave birth to Keep Turning Left (KTL), a site where he posts videos about “the history, geography and wildlife of this miraculous little island.”

That all began five years ago. He’s still adventuring today.

The video was filmed as a part of Nights of Adventure, an ongoing event put on by adventuring guru Alastair Humphreys in which inspired adventurers give inspirational talks about their lives and journeys.
