Luke Wright broke down a three-day trip he took on the Yungas Loop, known as the most dangerous road in the world, in Bolivia in a recent article in Outside Online.
The route begins at 4,750 meters in La Cumbre, near La Paz, Bolivia and terminates near El Castillo, which is also near La Paz. All told, it is a 130 mile trip that would take riders three to four days, depending on skill level.
At such extreme altitudes, altitude sickness is something to look out for, but the Yungas Loop itself sounds breathtaking. Wright describes pedaling everything from soaring peaks to steamy jungles.
