Wave Vidmar posted to Facebook the official launch date of his epic journey to paddle from California to Hawaii, along with some details about his trip.
Initially, the rumor was that he would set off in his kayak in June or July, but his expedition was pushed back a few times.
Today’s Facebook announcement comes directly from Wave and puts the launch date at August, 5.
Here’s what Wave wrote:
“Launching: Sunday Aug. 5th, 2012 9am -10am Spud Point Marina (or thereabouts), Bodega Bay, California. Finally, starting my 2012 Seaward Pacific Expedition, solo paddle from San Francisco Bay Area to Hawaii.
No more FB response as of this Sat. for 2+ months, but will have live tracking at website www.pacifickayaker.com, and FB blurbs and Twitter tweets via sat phone.”
